News and an apology

Apologies to those who have become semi-regular readers.

It has been a busy (and interesting) time recently...

I turned down a Masters invite due to family pressure.  This was particularly gutting as I had worked hard to get to number 12 in the country...

School has been manic, have run a two day tennis comp, prepared for and ran a four day camp in Ohope and then a work fishing trip to the coromandel...

My new school crest...  

The big news happened right in the middle of all this...  PNBHS flew me down for a job interview and I accepted.  I am an old boy of the school so very comfortable with the change.  So the rest of this year and early next will be consumed with preparing for a move to Palmerston North...

I will miss Tauranga, and do plan to return in the long term.  I am excited about the change on a gaming front as it will give me the chance to catch up with some of the friends I have made in the gaming community down there, looking forward to the change of scenery and the opportunity to give other locals the chance to 20 nil me, not just  Blair, Andy, Ross and Colin...

If anyone has a contact with a club down there, please let me know!

We're off to see the Wizard...

I will be following the yellow brick road to Auckland for Guard-con.  After a quick squiz at the Rankings, a win will see me book a ticket to Wellington for Masters, unfortunately there will be 25 others trying to get the same prize....

My aim is top 10...  anything above that will be a bonus...

looking at the lists, heavy grave guard/tomb guard and lots and lots of savage orcs!..  The mirror match is going to be interesting....

Some lists look fluffy, and then there is Tim Joss, double SS catapult, double casket...  mmmm

I drive up after work, stay with Rory, Sam, looking forward to a quiet ale before hitting the hall Saturday...

I have a Bad Dice podcast to listen to on the way...

Guard-Con

So after playing with Ogres for a while, I have jumped back into my Orc and Goblins...

For those regular readers you will have noticed that I haven't blogged in a while...

lots of reasons with work etc but essentially I have taken a couple of 'confidence' knocks and was a bit over it all...

Ogre army for Monster Con

1) Monster Con (Tin Soldier)...  I had a good time at the event (thanks Derick!), lost to the winner, beat 2nd place, played ok, despite not really taking full advantage of the ogres.  2 things happened that threw me a littl;, first of all I spent the saturday absolutely crook, threw up, head ache etc...  and then on the sunday I got docked 2 sportsmanship points for not letting a guy play incorrectly...

Painting Update II... Lots of pictures...

the army is still not finished, lots of detailing to do plus I need to paint and wash bases and movement trays...  if I get time I will add the tussocks on all the models as well.
